Why dumbbells are enough

A pair of dumbbells covers every movement pattern a program needs: squats and lunges, hinges like Romanian deadlifts, presses, rows and plenty of arm and shoulder work. Each side works on its own, which evens out imbalances and is easier on the joints than a barbell for many people.

Add a bench on the equipment step and the AI can use incline presses, chest-supported rows and step-ups. Add adjustable dumbbells and it will plan heavier compound lifts and lighter isolation work in the same session.

Getting stronger with dumbbells

The limit with fixed dumbbells is weight jumps. When a weight gets easy, make the exercise harder by adding reps first, then sets, then switching to a single-arm or single-leg version, before you need a heavier pair. Import the program into Progress and it tracks every set, so you can see when it's time to move up.

Questions

Can you build a full-body workout with just dumbbells?

Yes. The generator will put squats, hinges, presses and rows in each full-body session if you choose 2–3 days a week, or split them into upper and lower days if you train more often.

What weight dumbbells should I use?

Use a weight you can lift for the target reps with 2–3 reps left in the tank. Most people need a lighter pair for shoulders and arms and a heavier pair for legs and back. Adjustable dumbbells solve this in one set.

Is a dumbbell-only program good for beginners?

Yes. Dumbbell exercises are easy to learn and easy to scale. Choose "Beginner" and the AI keeps the plan to simple movements with fewer sets.

Is the AI workout plan generator really free?

Yes. Building a program is completely free, with no account, email or payment needed. You can build up to 3 programs a day.

Is it safe if I have an injury?

If you select an area with pain or a past injury, the AI avoids the riskiest exercises for it. It is general fitness guidance, not medical advice, so check with a doctor or physiotherapist before starting, and stop any exercise that causes pain.

How do I use the program?

Tap "Import this program into Progress" on your phone and the whole program loads into the Progress workout tracker (free to download), which logs every set and suggests when to add weight. You can also just follow the plan on the page.
