Privacy Policy
Progress ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information the Progress app collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
Information We Collect
Health & Fitness Data (HealthKit)
With your permission, Progress reads and writes data to Apple Health, including workout records, body weight, height, date of birth, and biological sex. This data is used solely to log your completed workouts to Apple Health and to personalize your experience within the app. It is never transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties.
Workout and Training Data
Progress stores your workouts, programs, exercises, sets, reps, and weights. This data is saved to your personal iCloud account via Apple CloudKit — it is stored in your own iCloud storage, not on our servers. This data syncs across your devices and is not accessible to us.
Personal Metrics
During onboarding, you may provide information such as your date of birth, height, weight, gender, experience level, and training preferences. This information is stored in your iCloud account and used to personalize your AI-generated programs and experience within the app.
AI Assistant Interactions
When you use the AI coaching feature, your messages and relevant workout data are sent to Google's Vertex AI (via Firebase AI) to generate responses and personalized programs. This includes the text of your messages and, in some cases, summaries of your workout history that are provided to the AI as context. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not store the content of AI conversations on our servers.
Push Notifications
If you grant permission, Progress may send you local notifications as workout reminders. These are scheduled on-device and do not involve transmitting personal data to our servers.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide core app functionality — logging workouts, tracking progress, and managing programs
- To generate personalized training programs and AI coaching responses
- To sync your data across your iPhone and Apple Watch via iCloud
- To write completed workouts to Apple Health
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
The only third-party service that receives any data is Google's Vertex AI (Firebase AI), which processes your AI chat messages to generate responses. See the section above for details.
Data Storage and Security
Your workout and training data is stored in your personal iCloud account, secured by Apple's iCloud infrastructure and your Apple ID credentials. We do not operate our own database of user data.
HealthKit data remains on your device and in iCloud and is governed by Apple's privacy protections for HealthKit.
Your Rights and Choices
- HealthKit access: You can revoke Progress's access to Apple Health at any time in the iOS Settings app under Health > Data Access & Devices.
- Notifications: You can disable notifications at any time in the iOS Settings app under Notifications > Progress.
- Deleting your data: You can delete all your data by removing the Progress app from your device. Since your data is stored in iCloud, you can also manage or delete it via iCloud.com or the iCloud section of iOS Settings. Deleting the app does not automatically delete iCloud data — you must remove it from iCloud separately if desired.
- AI features: You can use Progress without engaging the AI assistant. No AI-related data is sent unless you actively use the AI chat feature.
Children's Privacy
Progress is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
